Swimming Opens Season With Win at RIC
Eight different Owls swimmers won an event, with Jackie Roccabruna and Olivia Harkins winning two races each
WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Westfield State swimming and diving won 13 of the 14 events as the Owls opened the 2025-26 campaign with a win at Rhode Island College.
The Owls out-pointed the Anchorwomen 188-72 on the day.
Eight different Owls swimmers won an event, with Jackie Roccabruna and Olivia Harkins winning two races each.
Roccabruna took both the 50 freestyle (27.01) and 200 freestyle (2:07.55) while Harkins topped the 100 butterfly and the 100 IM
Newcomers Emily Donatio topped the 50 breaststroke in 34.66 seconds, and Isabella Zeppa hit the wall first in the 100 free in 57.45.
Owls' coach Matt Nodell noted that the relays matched or exceeded the times from last spring's conference championships.
The Owls will compete at the USJ Pentathlon next Friday in Hartford, then travel to Union College in Schenectady, N.Y. on Saturday for a meet with the Dutchwomen and Roberts Wesleyan College.
