Owls Win Bridgewater Invitational
Autumn Sutherland Broke the School Record in the 50 Butterfly
WESTFIELD, Mass. - First-year Autumn Sutherland (Cedar Peak, Utah) set a school record in the 50 butterfly to lead the way for the Westfield State University women's swimming and diving team, as the Owls won the Bridgewater State Invitational meet on Saturday.
Westfield finished with 496 points, with runner up Gordon College tallying 411 at the seven-team meet.
Sutherland stopped the clock in 27.90 in the 50 butterfly, finishing second in the event but lowering the Owls' school-record time by 0.41 seconds off the time set by Alexa Richter last February.
The Owls won five events at the meet, as Kiera Fallon (Ayer, Mass.) won the 1650 freestyle in 20:31.52, and Jackie Roccabruna (Pittsfield, Mass.) was first in the 200 freestyle 2:06.38.
Isabella Zeppa (Monson, Mass.) won the 50 freestyle (25:20) and the 50 backstroke (29:05) and the Owls 400 free relay team was tops in 3:53.73.
