WESTFIELD., Mass. – Westfield State University women's swimming and diving dominated the dual meet at Elms College at the Partyka Natatorium on Tuesday night , cruising to a 198–49 victory behind wins across nearly every women's event.
The Owls opened the meet with a victory in the 200-meter medley relay and never looked back, piling up first-place finishes throughout the night.
Westfield State event winners included Kiera Fallon in the 1000 freestyle (11:09.22), Aurora Lee in the 200 freestyle (2:32.32).
Other Owls winners included Emily Rogers in the 50 backstroke, Emily Donatio in the 50 breaststroke, Megan Baio in both the 100 fly and 50 fly, Isabella Zeppa in the 50 freestyle, Brooke Castellano in the 100 backstroke, Chloe Chofay in the 100 breaststroke, Jackie Roccabruna in the 500 freestyle, Caitlyn McIntyre in the 100 IM, and the Owls' "A" squad in the 800 freestyle relay. Note that the pool at the Partyka Natatorium is a 25-meter pool (rather than yards), with times differing for the slightly longer distance.
Zeppa's time of 28.25 seconds set a pool record, according to Owls head coach Matt Nodell.
The meet was moved to Tuesday from it's originally scheduled Sunday date due to the snowstorm that dropped 15-20 inches of snow across New England.
Westfield has completed the regular-season portion of it's schedule and will train up to the Little East Conference Championship meet, which begins on February 13.
