In the Owls' season-opening meet at Springfield College, Chandonnet set the pace in a pack of Owls athletes in the 3000, finishing first with a time of 10:43.48, crossing the tape 23 seconds faster than her closest competitor. She also tallied a fourth-place mark in the mile run at a time of 5:24.40 as the Owls finished third at the meet to begin the 2024-25 indoor season.
Chandonnet has emerged as one of the Owls top distance runners this season as she was also an All-Conference women's cross country selection after finishing second at this year's MASCAC Championship meet from Doyle Conservation Center in Leominster, Mass. back in early November.
Quinones-Ramos made an immediate impact as a rookie for the Owls by delivering a strong showing in her first collegiate meet. She finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles after qualifying for the finals after a preliminary time of 10.47 before trimming off three tenths of a second in the final for a time of 10.17 seconds. Quinones-Ramos was also involved in the Owls 4x400-meter relay team as she was the first runner to receive the baton on the "A team" lineup for Westfield.
Westfield State women's track and field will travel to Hanover, N.H. for the Dartmouth College December Invite on Saturday, serving as their final meet before heading into the winter break.
