Lee Recaptures MASCAC Field Athlete of the Week
Eliza Lee was named the conference’s field athlete of the week for a second consecutive week.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State senior Eliza Lee (Walpole, Mass.) achieved back-to-back Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week honors after another strong outing at the Owls most recent meet this past Saturday.
At the Post-Season Qualifier at Wheaton College, Lee won two events by securing a top leap in the long jump at 5.26m, then added first in the triple jump at a distance of 10.98m on Saturday afternoon.
Lee's efforts come after a dominant showing in the MASCAC Championship meet two weekends ago where she posted first place marks in the long jump and triple jump, then racked up points on the track as well, finishing second in the 400 with a time of 1:02.58 and third in the 60m hurdles at 10.13 seconds. She also participated in two of the Owls three relay events and was part of the team-winning 4x200 race. Individually, Lee piled up 38 points across five events and played a role in an additional 18 points via relays.
For Lee, this is the fourth time she has won the MASCAC Field Athlete of the Week during the indoor season.
Lee ranks 15th on the indoor qualifying list as her 5.67m leap in the conference title meet served as a new season best. She is also 21st nationally in the triple jump, achieving a 11.44m mark at the Massasoit Classic on January 24.
Next up for Lee and the Owls are the New England Division III Championships held at The Track at New Balance in Boston, Mass. on Sunday, March 1 beginning at 10:00 A.M.
