WESTFIELD, Mass. – After an outstanding showing at the Jerry Gravel Classic meet on Saturday, senior athlete Eliza Lee (Walpole, Mass.) was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference's Field Athlete of the Week.
Lee won three events in front of the home crowd as she was victorious in the long jump, triple jump, and the 200. In the long jump, she recorded a mark of 5.57m and in the triple jump she leaped to a distance of 11.35m. She then tacked on a 26.91 second time in the 200 for the top spot, cruising down the final 50m stretch to secure the top spot.
Overall, Lee currently ranks 19th in the national outdoor qualifying list in the long jump and is 24th in the triple jump, putting her squarely in the mix for qualification into the national championships.
For Lee, this is the second consecutive week in which she has won outdoor field athlete of the week honors, adding to a whopping five times in which she received indoor field athlete recognition during the winter season.
Lee was at the center of the Owls success in their home-hosted Jerry Gravel Classic meet where Westfield won ten different events, eight individual events and two team relay races. The Owls will travel to Hartford, Conn. for their next meet at the Trinity College Invitational on Saturday before looking to defend their title at the MASCAC Outdoor Championships on Saturday, April 25.
