MASCAC Champ Eliza Lee Earns Conference Field Athlete of the Week
Lee won three individual events for the Owls which won their third straight MASCAC Outdoor Championship on Saturday.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – After playing a major role in leading Westfield State to a third consecutive MASCAC Outdoor Championship title, Owls senior Eliza Lee (Walpole, Mass.) was named the conference's Field Athlete of the Week for her performance at the meet this past Saturday.
Lee won three individual events at the conference championships, securing all-conference honors with first-place marks in the long jump (5.65m), triple jump (11.09m), and 400m hurdles at 1:07.57. The 5.65m leap in the long jump was a season best mark for Lee as she is now 31st overall on the national outdoor performance list for Division III. Lee is also the current 44th ranked athlete on the outdoor performance list in the triple jump with her 11.46m hop-skip-jump holding from the Coast Guard Invite.
Lee was also a part of two relay winning teams for Westfield in the 4x100 and 4x400 as the Owls swept all three relays on the afternoon. Along with a multitude of top finishes, Lee was second in the 100m hurdles with a personal best time of 15.91 seconds and logged fifth in the 200 in 27.11 seconds.
Individually, she collected 40 points towards the Owls team score then helped gain 20 additional points in the relays.
The Owls won the meet with 203 points with Worcester State finishing second followed by Bridgewater State in third.
Over the course of her last three MASCAC championship meets, Lee has won seven MASCAC individual titles.
Lee was named the conference's field athlete of the week for the third consecutive week during the outdoor season.
Up next for Lee and women's track and field are the Division III New England Championships which will be held on Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2 at Springfield College.
