Lee Leaps to 11th on National Performance List; Ware Fourth at All-New England Meet

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State senior Eliza Lee (Walpole, Mass.) won the women's long jump at the Farley Inter-Regional Meet at Williams College on Saturday, posting a career-best mark that has her in position to qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships.
Lee leapt 5.83 meters (19'-1.5.") with her first and best jump of the day to win the event by more than a foot over her closest competitor. Her mark currently has her ranked 11th on the NCAA Division III Outdoor performance list, with the top 22 declared competitors to be selected for the national championship meet later this week.
Selections for the 2026 DIII men's and women's outdoor track and field championships will be revealed on Friday, May 15, via a press release on NCAA.com. Qualifying marks from Saturday, Mar. 1, to Thursday, May 14 will be considered – which leaves five more days for potential qualifying.
The 2026 Division III outdoor track and field championships are from May 21-23, 2026, at Veteran's Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Lee also placed eighth at the meet in the triple jump with a mark of 11.11 meters – a number she said "wasn't great, but may be lucky."
Lee forewent competing in cross country this past fall in an effort to focus on training for the jumps to try to qualify for the NCAA meet.
Meanwhile, at Stonehill College in North Easton, Mass., the Owls had a pair of competitors in the NEICAAA All-Divisions New England Championship.
Senior John Ware (Wilimington, Mass.) earned a fourth place effort in the javelin with a throw of 55.09m (180'09").
Senior Xavier Merkman (Springfield, Mass. placed 14th in the discus with a best toss of 41.78m (137'-01")>
The Westfield men placed 16th among 20 scoring institutions.
