Crowley Sisters, McAndrews Receive All-Conference Recognition
Westfield State seniors’ Ashley Crowley and Shawna Crowley along with sophomore Bridgette McAndrews were named to the MASCAC All-Conference First and Second Teams.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State seniors' Ashley Crowley (Billerica, Mass.) and Shawna Crowley (Billerica, Mass.) along with sophomore Bridgette McAndrews (Longmeadow, Mass.) were selections for the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Conference Teams with the Crowley sisters both named to All-Conference First Team and McAndrews honored as part of the second team. All three players earned the same recognition a season ago.
Ashley Crowley, who has received All-Conference recognition for the third straight season, ranks second on the team in kills (178) and fourth in digs (159). She posted a career-high 21 digs to go along with ten kills in the Owls MASCAC Championship victory over Worcester State. In her four-year career, A. Crowley has amassed 754 kills and 476 digs in 102 games played.
Shawna Crowley was named to the All-Conference First Team for the second straight season after leading the Owls in kills this season at 192, which was also fourth in the conference. Her 2.43 kills per set also lead Westfield. Shawna also passed her career-high total in digs from two seasons ago, racking up 208 digs across 23 matches. Through four years with the Owls, S. Crowley has compiled 589 kills and 568 digs in 86 career matches.
McAndrews received MASCAC All-Conference Second Team honors for the second time in as many seasons. The sophomore outside hitter registered the third-most kills on the unit with 161 while also supplying 111 digs this season. McAndrews was also second on the Owls with 32 service aces. After leading Westfield in kills a season ago, McAndrews has posted 391 kills and 353 total digs.
Westfield enters the NCAA Tournament after earning the automatic qualifying bid for winning the MASCAC Championship this past Saturday. The Owls will begin first round tournament play in just a few hours as they face #8 NYU at 3:00 P.M. from Middletown, Conn.
