Recent Highlights:

2025: Westfield State earned a first-round bye in the MASCAC Tournament for the sixth straight season under the leadership of Glanville as the Owls wrapped up the regular season with a 7-1 conference mark. The Owls finished the season with an overall record of 15-11 and had two players secure spots on the MASCAC’s All-Conference first team; senior Morgan Dority and junior Lauren Carnes.  

2024: The Owls clinched the MASCAC regular season title for a second straight season under the leadership of Glanville, completing an undefeated regular season for the second consecutive year. Westfield advanced into the MASCAC Championship game, falling in a hard-fought five set match. With plenty of talented upperclassmen on the roster, Glanville helped accelerate the play of first-year Syndey Cummins who was named the MASCAC Rookie of the Year after an incredible season. The Owls had four athletes earn spots on the all-conference teams with Cummins joining Julia Bartiet on the first team while Julia Dangel-Garcia and Sarah Bingham received second team honors.

2023: Glanville coached the Owls to a MASCAC regular season championship after posting a 7-0 record during the conference regular season and in doing so was named the MASCAC Coach of the Year. He guided a trio of Owls to all-conference honors, including MASCAC Player of the Year Bridgette McAndrews along with middle blocker Julia Bartiet and setter Julia Dangel-Garcia.

2022: In 2022, Glanville guided the second-seeded Owls to their sixth MASCAC Championship as the Owls defeated fourth-seeded Worcester State 3-1 in the conference title game. On the season, Westfield finished with a share of the conference regular season title at 6-1 and finished the year with a mark of 12-13. Seniors Ashley Crowley and Shawna Crowley, along with junior Bridgette McAndrews earned All-Conference selections, with Ashley and Shawna headlining the First Team, while McAndrews was selected to the Second Team. Ashley received First Team All-Conference for the third consecutive season, while her twin sister Shawna earns All-Conference First Team for the second consecutive season. McAndrews earned Second Team honors for the second time in as many years. 

2021: Glanville led the Owls to a 6-1 mark in conference play, finishing second in the MASCAC regular season standings. Glanville coached Jess Haradon to conference Defensive Player of the Year and an all-conference first-team nomination. Ashley Crowley and Shawna Crowley joined Haradon on the first-team while sophomore Bridgette McAndrews earned placement on the second-team. 

2019: Glanville coached the Owls to their first MASCAC Tournament Championship since 2013. The Owls eventually fell to Clarkson in the NCAA Tournament in Potsdam, N.Y. Westfield won the regular season crown with a perfect 7-0 mark in the league and four Owls were named to the All-Conference team. Glanville earned the MASCAC Coach of the Year honors for the seventh time in his career.

2018: Led the Owls to a 5-2 mark in the conference and back to the MASCAC championship match for the first time since 2013.

About Glanville:

Fred Glanville has led the Owls to five NCAA Tournament appearances. Playing a highly competitive schedule, he has guided the Owls to nine MASCAC regular season championships, including five consecutive crowns (2007-2011) and a 20-13 overall record in 2010.

Westfield captured the MASCAC regular season and postseason tournament championships in 2019, 2013, 2011, 2010 and 2009, and in 2007 the Owls won the conference regular season championship for the first time in 20 years. Westfield shared the 2008 MASCAC regular season title with Bridgewater. He added back-to-back MASCAC regular season titles in 2023 and 2024 and clinched a share of the league title in 2022. 

Before Westfield:

Glanville is a native of Ludlow, Mass., and has served as the head coach of both the boys' and girls' team at Ludlow High School. He was the girls' coach for five years, compiling an 82-29 record. His girls' team reached the Western Mass. finals four years and captured championships in 1998 and 2000.

Glanville has been the head coach of the Ludlow boys' team for the past 20 years. His teams have posted an aggregate record of 267-121; Ludlow won the Western Mass. title in 2001 and was runner-up in 2013
