Women’s Cross Country Competes at UMass Dartmouth Invitational
The Owls earned the fourth highest team performance of the Division III institutions, finishing 14th overall in a meet featuring teams from Division I, II, and III.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State women's cross country, led by Reese Stevens (Agawam, Mass.), finished in 14th place at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday morning.
In a meet featuring 36 teams comprised of Division, I, II, and III institutions, the Owls placed fourth among Division III schools, trailing only Connecticut College (fourth), Suffolk (11th), and Brandeis (12th).
Stevens was first to cross the tape for Westfield, finishing 75th among 275 runners with a time of 23:22.26. Julianne Kelly (Natick, Mass.) was five spots behind Stevens, finishing 80th overall at a time of 23:24.02. Tealei Chandonnet (Dracut, Mass.) was a top three finisher for the Owls, checking in at 97th with a mark of 23:45.84.
Boston University won the meet with a total of 35 points. Brown (68) and UMass Lowell (130) earned top three spots. Nimrit Ahuja of Brown was the individual meet winner, posting a time of 21:03.75.
Westfield State will have a week off before travelling to the Keene State Invitational on Saturday, October 4 from Keene, N.H.
