Women’s Cross Country Places 12th at NCAA Mideast Regional Championship
Julianne Kelly led the way for Westfield with a 56th place finish.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Senior Julianne Kelly (Natick, Mass.) led the way for Westfield State women's cross country, which played 12th at the 2025 NCAA Division III Mideast Regional meet hosted by St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. on Saturday afternoon.
The Owls improved on their 14th place position for last year's meet, reaching two spots higher in a field of 25 teams, earning a team score of 357.
All seven Owls athletes that competed in the regional finished inside the top 100 with Kelly the first Westfield runner to place, earning a 56th place mark in a time of 23:33.5. Reese Stevens (Agawam, Mass.) was next to finish for Westfield, compiling a 23:47.9 time to place 64th individually.
Tealei Chandonnet (Dracut, Mass.) and Shea Hamel (Longmeadow, Mass.) each finished within two spots of one another with Chandonnet (24:15.8) tallying 76th with Hamel (24:20.8) close behind in 78th.
Westfield women's cross country has put forth a terrific season, most recently winning a fifth straight MASCAC Championship while placing seven of the top ten runners in the meet. The Owls held a top ten spot in the USTFCCCA Division III Mideast regional rankings for two consecutive weeks entering the championship season, the first time in program history the Owls have achieved such status.
Williams College, the number one ranked team in Division III and the Mideast, won the meet with 39 points while placing four of the top ten runners. Audrey McLean of Middlebury College was the individual winner, crossing the tape in 21:21.6 on 6000-meter course.
