BROCKPORT, N.Y.  –   Westfield State seniors Jauch Green, Jr. scored 23 points and Moody Bey added 19, but the Owls fell to #21-ranked Middlebury, 78-69 in the opening round of the 2020 NCAA Division III men’s basketball tournament at the Vlogianitis Gymnasium on the SUNY-Brockport campus on Friday afternoon.

Owls Fly Past Lancers, 97-87

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State’s Vawn Lord (West Springfield, Mass.) recorded 26 points in dominating fashion as the Owls defeated Worcester State 97-87 in a MASCAC men’s basketball matchup at the Woodward Center Wednesday evening.

Key Conference Hoop Doubleheader Wednesday; All-Conference Student Athletes to Be Recognized

Westfield State University men’s and women’s basketball teams both host Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference games this coming Wednesday, February 3 as the Owls play Worcester State in a doubleheader at the Woodward Center. The women's game tips off at 5:30 p.m., with the men starting at 7:30 p.m. During halftime of both games there will be a ceremony recognizing Fall All-Conference student-athletes. The women's game will recognize women’s and men’s cross country, and volleyball. The men's game will honor women’s and men’s soccer, and football.

Men's Basketball Drops Heartbreaker at Buzzer

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. –   Quentin Gittens jump shot at the buzzer in overtime lifted Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts to an 82-81 win over Westfield State in a hard fought battle atop the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference at the Amsler Campus Center Gymnasium on Wednesday night.

WESTFIELD, Mass. –  Westfield State’s Vawn Lord scored 24 points as the Owls used a big second half to pull away from Framingham State to win 73-58 in a MASCAC men’s basketball game in the league-opener for both teams at the Woodward Center on Saturday afternoon.

Ticket prices for Westfield State home games are $6 for adults, and $3 for senior citizens and non-Westfield State students.  Westfield State students, and children 12 and under are admitted free.

Marcus Collins Scores 1000th Point As Owls Roll Past Eastern Nazarene, 104-86

Westfield State graduate student Marcus Collins (Cambridge, Mass./Rindge and Latin) scored the 1,000th point of his career and was one of four Owls to score 20 or more points as Westfield State rolled to a 104-86 Tuesday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center in the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

Westfield State University men’s basketball picked up several significant honors, as senior guard Vawn Lord (West Springfield, Mass./Amherst HS) was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference player of the week as sponsored by Geico, and the Owls’ team and coach Rich Sutter were recognized as the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division III Team of the Week, after the Owls knocked off #3-ranked Amherst, 68-67 on Tuesday, November 26.

Westfield State University senior forward Jauch Green, Jr. scored on a drive with 3.7 seconds left to lift the Owls to perhaps the biggest upset in program history, toppling #3 ranked Amherst College, 68-67, to give Westfield State head coach Rich Sutter his 300th career win at the Woodward Center on Tuesday night.
