Stevens Wins Twice at Yellow Jacket Invitational
Westfield State added another victory in the 3000-meter steeplechase, where Julianne Kelly finished first in 12:24.02.
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Reese Stevens captured a pair of events to lead the Westfield State women's track and field team's results at the Yellow Jacket Invitational meet at the John Hoyt '52 Track and Field Complex at American International College on Saturday.
The Owls were led by Stevens, who captured the 800 meters in 2:28.72 and returned to win the 1500 meters in 4:58.74, pacing a dominant Westfield State sweep of the top four places in the 1500.
Tealei Chandonnet finished second in 5:09.59, Shea Hamel took third in 5:12.20, and Samantha Panzeri placed fourth in 5:14.13. Stevens also led a 1-3-4 finish in the 800, with Molly Lenehan placing third (2:33.48) and Chandonnet fourth (2:34.83).

On the sprint side, senior Eliza Lee and junior Anjalina Lubarsky each turned in top-four efforts in the 100-meter dash, placing third (13.13) and fourth (13.21), respectively. Lee also added a third-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles in 16:80.
In the distance events, first-year Quinlin Cook placed third in the 5000 meters in 21:28.58, followed by teammate Grace Garro in fourth at 21:54.96.
The Owls also saw success in relay action, with the 4x100-meter team of Emma Daly, Lubarsky, Bella Coughlin, and Lee finishing third in 51.11.
In the field events, Emily Ottomaniello recorded a pair of top-four finishes, placing fourth in the high jump at 1.40 meters and third in the pole vault at 2.60 meters.
Westfield will next compete at the Coast Guard Academy Spring Invitational on April 4 before Westfield hosts its home meet, the Jerry Gravel Invitational at the Gravel Track on Saturday, April 11.
