Cummins Earns MASCAC Rookie of the Week
Westfield State first-year Sydney Cummins was named the MASCAC Rookie of the Week for her efforts at the Joel Dearing Tournament at Springfield College this past weekend.
WESTFIELD, Mass. –The Westfield State women's volleyball team finished opening weekend with Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honors from Sydney Cummins (Nicholasville, Kentucky).
The first-year player from Kentucky had a strong start at the Joel Dearing Tournament hosted at Springfield College this past weekend. The first game of the tournament allowed Cummins to slam home 10 kills along with three digs in the opening match of the season versus Rivier. In the second match against Keene state, Cummins saw ample playing time once again, tallying eight digs, three kills, and a pair of aces.
The rookie finished the tournament with 16 kills, 13 digs, three service aces and a block assist in three matches for Westfield.
Cummins and the Owls will look to find their first win of the season as they travel to Coast Guard Tuesday, September 3 at 6:00 P.M.
