Coach Bals Leads Owls' Walk To End Alzheimers Team on Sunday, Sept. 26
The 2-mile walk begins at 10:00 a.m. at Holyoke Community College. Walkers are welcomed at 8:30 with a ceremony at 9:30 a.m.
Westfield State associate athletic director Nancy Bals is leading an Owls team for the Walk to End Alzheimers' this Sunday, Sept. 26 in Holyoke, Mass.
The 2-mile walk begins at 10:00 a.m. at Holyoke Community College. Walkers are welcomed at 8:30 with a ceremony at 9:30 a.m.
An Owls team participated in 2018 and raised more than $5,000. The 2020 walk was postponed by the pandemic.
Alzheimers' hits close to home in the Owls athletic department, as Bals' husband Bill Miller, a former professor in the Westfield State movement science department has battled the disease for the past nine years after being diagnosed at age 52.
Owls, fans, friends, and student-athletes are encouraged to join the walk, or make a donation to support the Owls team.
