Top Stories of 2021: #7 – Lacrosse Continues Reign of Dominance
At number seven is the women's lacrosse team which rode an eight-game winning streak to the MASCAC Championship title.
The Westfield State women's lacrosse team won their fourth straight MASCAC title in dramatic fashion as first-year attacker Natalie DeMaio buried a free-position goal with just five second left in regulation to lift the Owls to a 14-13 victory on the road over Framingham. The championship capped an 8-2 season as the Owls reached the number one ranking in the NCAA Regional Poll for the North Division, their highest ranking ever.
Senior midfielder Sam Donohoe and first-year goalkeeper Kara Banagan were each selected to the All-Region Team.
